In August 2023, the AICPA and 54 state CPA societies nominated several accounting-related degrees for inclusion on the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s list of STEM programs. Nearly 60 accounting programs have already received an official STEM designation from the federal government. By recognizing the profession as a STEM field, more students will be exposed to a career in accounting – ensuring future leaders are highly skilled and prepared to meet the public's evolving needs.
